Overview
Bamboo Paradise is set, like most of the guesthouses in Nong Kiaow, on the banks of the Nam Ou river. It is a little way back, and the views, while lovely, are not the best the town has to offer. A shared balcony and seating area where you re welcome to relax is available, and they may or may not serve food. Doors are spray painted with identifying numbers and rooms are small and dark with no windows. Walls are bamboo and the rooms are all adjoined, containing nothing more than a mattress on the floor, mosquito net and an electric light. Electricity runs all night and a towel is supplied. The attached black and white tiled bathouroom facilities with cold water shower and squat toilet are super clean. A point of interest is that around the guesthouse grounds are a few items of old wartime paraphernalia, including some old bomb cases and mines.
